There are several ways to move documents to or from SharePoint.
Move a document from a location to SharePoint - Drag & Drop
Move a document currently stored on your OneDrive (or other location) to your department SharePoint site.
First, open your OneDrive and find the document or file to move. Next, open your dept SharePoint site on your browser.
TIP: Arrange both applications on your computer monitor so they are side-by-side like this:
Select the document from OneDrive (Test document) with your mouse (shown above on the left) and drag the document to the desired SharePoint site location (shown above on the right), then release your mouse to drop the document in SharePoint.
A pop-up window will appear at the bottom of the screen to confirm the upload.
You can also verify the drag & drop was successful by finding the document listed on the SharePoint site. If you don’t see the document right away, fresh your browser or wait a minute or two.
Repeat the steps listed above to move documents from other sources such as Network Shared Drives, desktop, or other.
Move a document from SharePoint to another location – Drag & Drop
Follow the steps listed above in the reverse order. Find the document in SharePoint and drag & drop it into OneDrive or another location on your computer.
Upload a file to SharePoint
You can also move a document by uploading it directly to your dept SharePoint site. From the SharePoint site, select Upload from the task bar located above the folders and documents.
Select files, folder, template as needed.
Locate the file in your OneDrive or other computer location and click on it with your mouse. Select Open.
A confirmation pop-up window will appear at the bottom of the screen.
Repeat the steps listed above to move documents from SharePoint to other locations as needed.
